About these terms
These terms apply to this website, SeaSignals accounts, the free trial, the API and the Voyage simulator. By using them you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use SeaSignals.
Free trial accounts
- The free trial is for evaluating SeaSignals. It lasts 30 days unless we tell you otherwise, and comes with the usage limits shown on your dashboard.
- One account per person. Keep your password and API keys secret; you're responsible for activity under your account.
- We may change, suspend or end the trial or an account, for example if limits are worked around or the service is misused.
- The service is new and is provided without uptime or support commitments. Endpoints, coverage and limits may change.
Data and third-party licences
SeaSignals combines data from third parties, listed with their licences on our data sources page. Your use of data obtained through SeaSignals must respect those licences, including attribution. In particular, some sources (such as Open-Meteo's free tier) allow non-commercial use only, so trial data is for evaluation and not for resale or production use. Wildlife locations are generalised on purpose; don't use them to disturb or harm animals.
Not for navigation or safety
Nothing on this site, including the Voyage simulation, is intended for navigation, safety-of-life decisions, or any purpose where an error could cause harm. Always rely on official charts, forecasts and notices to mariners.
Acceptable use
Please don't:
- try to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorized access to the site or its hosting;
- scrape the site in a way that degrades it for others;
- create multiple accounts, share API keys, or otherwise get around usage limits;
- resell or redistribute bulk data from the API;
- use the site or its content to break the law or infringe anyone's rights.
Content and intellectual property
The SeaSignals name, logo, text and design of this site belong to SeaSignals unless otherwise noted. The site's source code is published on GitHub, where its repository license, if any, applies to the code. Third-party libraries and fonts remain subject to their own licenses.
Links to other sites
This site links to third-party websites and services. We aren't responsible for their content or practices.
No warranty
The site and everything on it is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SeaSignals will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or any loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of this site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes
We may update these terms as SeaSignals develops. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
